Research on the effects of exposure to EMF radiation while in the womb is ringing loud. Three recent studies link prenatal EMF radiation exposure to several health issues including: decrease in births, accelerated sexual maturity (sperm and eggs maturing faster but at lower quality), and female eggs of offspring showing premenopausal similarities upon entering puberty.
Recent research has indicated this type of exposure to EMF's during pregnancy may increase the risk of miscarriage and use of mobile phones can be related to early spontaneous abortions.
In 2019 a study was conducted with over 55,000 pregnant women and infants in Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, and Korea, which linked maternal cell phone use during pregnancy with shorter pregnancy duration and increased preterm birth. Over one hundred physicians, scientists and public health professionals have joined together under The Baby Safe Wireless Project to voice their concern regarding the risk of exposure to wireless radiation during pregnancy and to urge pregnant women to limit their exposure.
Dr. Hugh Taylor, chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale University School of Medicine, has joined this movement and is speaking up for change. According to Taylor, “We have demonstrated clear cause and effect relationships in mice, and we already have studies showing that women who use cell phones have children with more behavioral problems I think together that’s powerful evidence…. There’s essentially no downside to being cautious and protecting your baby.”
EMF exposure in the womb has also been shown to affect the development of the cells and neurons in the cerebellum, which works to control motor skills.
Both in vivo and in vitro studies show that EMF exposure alters cellular homeostasis, endocrine function, reproductive function, and fetal development. As far back as 2008, a small study at Cleveland Clinic showed that using a cell phone decreases the semen quality in men by decreasing the sperm count, motility, viability, and normal morphology. A larger 2014 study at the University of Exeter showed that normal sperm movement fell by 8 percent when sperm were exposed to cell phone radiation. In fact, male fertility in the Western world has been falling at a rate of 2 percent per year. And a landmark study showed a 59 percent reduction in Western sperm counts from 1973 to 2011. Over time, this could lead to mass depopulation! Women are also at risk. Birth rates among American women have been falling for decades but took a sharp downward turn beginning around 2010, 3 years after the first iPhone was released. In 2016, the fertility rate in the United States had dropped to only 62 live births per every 1,000 women.
